  • These exceptional decaf coffee beans prove you don’t have to compromise on flavour for a caffeine-free cup. Sourced from the rugged Rwenzori Mountains of Western Uganda, the Lala Salama lot is a standout example of quality decaffeination.

    Tasting Notes

Milk Chocolate • Toffee • Liquorice

Expect a rich, clean, and vibrant cup with smooth milk chocolate sweetness, buttery toffee notes, and a subtle liquorice finish. The high-altitude origin shines through with excellent body and natural sweetness — even after decaffeination.

    The Process

Grown at 1800–2200 masl by a select group of just 29 farmers trained by our partner Norman, these natural (“kiboko”) coffees are harvested and dried individually at farm level to preserve flavour integrity. The beans then undergo the Sparkling Water (CO₂) Decaf process — an organic-certified, chemical-free method that uses only natural carbon dioxide and pure water. This gentle process selectively removes caffeine while protecting the bean’s cellular structure and aromatic compounds, resulting in a remarkably clean and flavourful decaf.

    Why You’ll Love It

Freshly roasted in small batches in Newcastle, these speciality decaf coffee beans deliver the rich, satisfying character you expect from high-quality Ugandan coffee, without the caffeine. Perfect for afternoon brewing, evening espresso, or anyone who wants a great-tasting decaf that doesn’t taste like decaf.

Brewing Tip: Use a medium grind for espresso or a medium-coarse grind for filter and pour-over to enjoy its full chocolatey sweetness and smooth body.
